April 12, 1961, marked the day of humanity’s first successful flight into space. 60 years ago, Yuri Gagarin, a former Soviet astronaut, made a complete orbital flight around earth. Subsequently, there were many more milestones in space activities such as the first spacewalk, first human landing on the moon and the first female astronaut to enter space!
Following in the footsteps of these milestones, Singapore Space and Technology Ltd (SSTL) was established in 2007 as one of the first companies to lead in the development of the space and technology industry. SSTL continued to break new grounds with Global Space and Technology Convention (GSTC), Space Accelerator Programme and Project Cyclotron to provide support and network for startups and industry partners in the global and regional markets.
Lynette Tan, CEO of SSTL, mentioned that the region’s space industry has been expanding tremendously in the past five years and is a major contributor to the region’s technology development.
