The application of satellite technology and its increasing role in providing quick, accurate and effective response to frequent and complex disaster situations is evident. Across the world, countries have recognized the need of utilizing remote sensing satellite technologies as a critical tool in real-time disaster management. The Singapore Space and Technology Association (SSTA) has partnered with Airbus to launch a HADR (Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief) challenge, where students and young professionals are given the task to develop an innovative smart application with the aim to provide a significant increase in efficiency and effectiveness of HADR operations via real-time data provided by a high-altitude pseudo satellite.
The objectives of the Airbus-SSTA HADR Challenge are to:
- Utilizing satellite and mobile technology developed by the participants to rescue people in distress in the event of disaster
- Encourage youth to incorporate space technology and engineering into daily lives
- Provide a ground for students and expertise in the field to communicate and exchange ideas
- Spread awareness on space technologies to the public
Are you prepared to take on the Challenge?
