The UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, which Singapore is set to join, was set up in 1959 to govern the exploration and use of space “for the benefit of all humanity: for peace, security and development. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) confirmed Singapore’s application to Copuos. Ms Lynette Tan, executive director of the Singapore Space and Technology Association (SSTA), said the development will encourage Singapore to take a stand on international space law and policy issues.
